This Is What Hollywood Movies Really Look Like When The Visual Effects Are Removed
When we watch movies, we find ourselves wondering what it would be like to be in their world. Don’t lie, you’ve always wanted to live in the world of Gotham City at some point in your life. Or what it would be like to live in a world where people are being attacked by dragons. But the reality is that what we see in the movies and how the set actually looks like is completely different. I know…what a bummer.
There are a number of movies that don’t look quite as cool without the visual effects. A lot of us don’t even realize how much goes into making a film. The visual effects guys do such an incredible job, that we got lost in the world of the movie and completely get mesmerized by what we see. The video clip you see down below goes through a few movies that looked totally cool on the big screen, but behind the scenes, it was a bit of a different story.
Take for example the film Life of Pi. In the movie, the main character spends most of the movie in the middle of the ocean. In a boat. Oh, and there’s a tiger on the boat as well. Looked like a pretty crazy movie, except for the fact that in reality the entire movie was actually filmed in front of a blue screen and there was no tiger. It was completely CGI. Okay, except during the close-up scenes with the tiger…that was actually a real one.
Then there’s Wolf of Wall Street. You’d think a movie that is based on a true story wouldn’t require any blue or green screen but…it does! It was used for foreign locations that the characters visited, to enhance the beach houses the characters partied at and of course to have a lion walking through a house randomly. Could’ve fooled us Wall Street, could’ve fooled us!

Then there’s Jurassic World, which came out in 2015. Obviously, a movie about dinosaurs heavily relies on CGI because…dinosaurs are extinct! But I bet you would have never guessed that the film fully had men dressed up in dino costumes. Yea, you’ll see how weird it looks when you watch the video below.

Also, in a lot of the scenes where there were tons of dinosaurs attacking the actors, in reality, they had to just use their imaginations and pretend they were being attacked. If that’s not impressive acting skills, I don’t know what is! Technology truly at its finest.
If you want to know more about how certain movies were made to look as cool as they did, check out the video below. Then, go re-watch some of these films. It totally might change your perception of how you see the movie and the actors. Well done Hollywood, well done
